Why marketing is your key to surviving a recession

There has been a lot of talk lately about an upcoming recession – which I think you can agree we are probably already in… For most businesses this will put the brakes on all expenses. A freeze on spending and a tightening of the budgets across the board. However, if you stop investing in your marketing the impact of the recession will only hit harder. As people across the country are becoming more aware of their spending, your business needs to stick out from the crowd to attract new customers.
How can we help you to make the most of your marketing efforts and make sure the budget covers your marketing needs over the next year?

Retainers
Within a recession most people will cut their retainer services, to instantly reduce costs. However, retainer services offer a cost effective solution for on-going design requirements. Your marketing can’t stop because when you stop promoting your attraction you lose out on potential new customers.
Annual Passes
This winter it will be essential to promote your annual passes and to highlight the costs saved for parents in the long term. Especially over the Christmas period this year, annual passes to attractions could be a lifesaver next year for parents knowing that there is a pre-paid attraction they can spend the day at. With the rising cost of living, many people are starting to feel like they can’t afford a day out with their friends and family. Yet, if your marketing emphasises the value of an annual pass, including the events you host throughout the year, the opening times of your venues and the opportunities you can get with it you can encourage them to buy into your facility for the upcoming year.
Promote Your Key Selling Points
“Get out of the house in the winter months and get them running around.”
If a recession hits, parents will be looking for value for their money, especially when taking their children out. As a business you need to make sure that they can see why you stand out from the competition and more importantly what value will a day out at your attraction have? Making sure that this comes through in your marketing will be essential to attracting customers during tough times. Customers are not loyal, they always want something new, exciting and want to experience the next big thing.
I think we’re all a little bit hesitant about the year ahead, and for many businesses the thought of a recession is scary. Making sure that your marketing is time-proofed for the upcoming year is essential to making sure you can continue despite a recession.
